Electric range cooker hobs can be solid plate, ceramic or induction.
Induction hobs use a magnetic field below the ceramic surface to heat the pan above. They power up and down instantly making this method of cooking quick and controllable. Pans to use with this type of hob should be enamelled steel, cast iron or magnetic stainless steel.
